Facial Rejuvenation Q & A

What does the Lumecca system do?

Lumecca is an intense pulsed light (IPL) system used to target and treat skin conditions with a process called selective photothermolysis. Unlike lasers, which use a single frequency of high-energy light, IPL uses wider wavelengths, making it suitable for use on a wide range of blemishes and unwanted skin pigmentation, while creating little disruption in surrounding, normal tissue. Treatment times are typically shorter than other IPL devices, and fewer treatments produce optimal results, making Lumecca treatments both affordable and effective. It’s a great weapon against rosacea, visible blood vessels, age and sun spots, and freckles. Treatments are fast and there’s little to no post-treatment down time.

How is the Fractora system used?

The Fractora system uses targeted radiofrequency energy, the same kind that carries your local radio station through the air, but at much lower intensities. Like both IPL and lasers, Fractora’s RF energy passes through the outer skin via a number of tiny pins to target deeper dermal tissue. Heating the collagen and elastin layers gently, Fractora kickstarts the skin’s auto-renewal system by restructuring older, flawed tissue and stimulating the manufacture of new collagen. Fractora clears photodamaged skin while filling in fine and moderate passive lines and wrinkles. It’s often used to treat smile lines, upper and lower eyelids, and skin on the cheeks and neck.

Fractora uses a bipolar RF system which means the energy travels between emitters and collectors in a flat, parabolic arc. This longer travel through the dermal layers covers a wide and flat area, contributing to good blending with surrounding skin.
